Mid Beach is like the shy little sister of South Beach Miami; just a few miles away, it has the same beauty and charm but is not quite as outgoing and loud as the glamorous South Beach.
If you love Miami Beach like I do (I have spent long periods of time there) and like the vibe and nightlife but prefer not to have it right outside your doorstep, Mid Beach hotels are probably your perfect place to stay.
You will find some of the best hotels in Miami Beach in this area, with guest rooms shielded from the party zone. Most of them have lush outdoor pools, even though they are minutes from the Atlantic Ocean.
There are also some hostels, or more accurately, a mix where you have the best of hostel life with the best of hotel life. If budget is important to you, you will love this.
Why Stay In Mid Beach Miami?
From Mid Beach, it takes 5-6 minutes on the free trolley to get to South Beach, 20 minutes to drive or Uber to Downtown Miami, and no more than 60 seconds to stroll down to the beach.
I have stayed here for months at a time, and I love it for its balance.
There are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, and cafes minutes away. If you want to venture further, you have Uber on your phone and the trolley for venturing north or south for free in minutes.
3 Great Mid Beach Miami Hotels
Here are three top-rated places for you to stay in Mid Beach, all within seconds of the famous white sands.
Budget: Generator Mid Beach Miami
Although nothing really is “budget” in Miami Beach, Generator on Miami Beach is a mix of a hostel and a hotel is one of the closest options that you find here.
I have stayed at the Generator for longer periods of time. It is a great option to keep a bigger part of your travel budget for other fun things you want to do, while not missing out on any amenities.
Don’t be fooled by the hostel label; everything about this place is hotel’ish.
The foyer is furnished like a living room: a chill pillow room, an in-house bar, and a super charming restaurant called Hoja.
There is also an amazing backyard with a pool and seating areas where you can relax during the daytime and evening, chill music playing, and new friends available if you want to be social.
At the Generator Mid Beach Miami, you can choose between delicate private rooms and dorms, and both categories have daily housekeeping from the friendly staff.
Amenities at Generator Mid Beach Miami:
- 24-hour reception
- Pool and garden
- In-house bar and restaurant
- Workstations in the elegant foyer
- Free wifi
- Hot and cold water
- Storage lockers
Everyone working here is super friendly; the beach is one block away, and the free trolley stops right behind the property, taking you to South Beach (or North Beach) in minutes.
The ambiance is also really social and laid-back; guests are from all over the world, and it is easy to make friends poolside for a while if you want to.
The Generator is the best of both worlds, a budget hostel option without losing any of the elegance.

Outside in the garden is a hut where you can join zen yoga sessions on Sundays, perfect for waking up in a kind and loving way.
Rooms at The Palms are elegantly decorated with an eye for detail, and you can choose between city and ocean views.
Head straight from the pool or pool bar down to the beach in a few seconds if you need some sand between your toes!

A perfect hotel for anyone who loves to live in style. The Faena on Miami Beach has a rating of almost five full stars.
Colors held in deep red and animal print (!) might sound a bit too much, but it creates an incredible atmosphere.
The beachfront hotel has several restaurants indoors and out, a pool area from where you can stroll directly down to the beach minutes’ walk away, and a hotel bar on the first floor that is a fiesta for the senses.
The rooms are held in deep, elegant colors and designs and have superb amenities like delicate bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, and a balcony in selected rooms.

The Faena on Mid Beach is one of the five-star hotels in Miami Beach that have amazing reviews across the board. It truly is a jewel.
With an outstanding location, service, several restaurants, a fitness center and leisure facilities, free wifi, an outdoor swimming pool, spacious rooms, a full-service spa, and overall superb quality.
It has an on-site nightclub, is a short walk from the shopping area, and has direct beach access to a private beach. Only a minute’s drive from the South Beach area, and a six minutes drive from Miami Beach Golf Club.
Things To Do In Miami
Around Mid Beach is not where you find most of the sights, attractions, and things to do in Miami, but it is not far from anything!
Just outside these hotels, you have supermarkets, restaurants, and bars, as well as some shopping areas like the Faena Bazaar.
In this mini-mall, you find a variety of high-end designer brands and a fantastic cafe with great coffee and super healthy breakfast and lunch options.
And of course the beach.
A few minute’s drive or trolley ride away is South Beach, with the famous Art Deco District, a plethora of restaurants, shopping on Collins Avenue, Muscle Beach, and Nikki Beach Club for drinks and chill!
The elegant Versace Mansion is also in South Beach, where you can come for an exquisite lunch or dinner (or even stay there; it is also a hotel).
Ocean Drive is a fun place both day and night with restaurants and galleries, but it really comes to life when the sun sets and the neon lights spread across the unique architecture and ambiance you find here.
Miami International Airport is 17 km (11 miles) away from Mid Beach, and you will be living right in the center of Miami Beach.
You will be able to travel easily both ways, south and north, and have strolls or bike trips along the boardwalk that follows the beach all the way.
Tours in South Beach
There are a variety of fun, top-rated tours you can enjoy in Miami Beach as well; you don’t need to get yourself over to mainland Miami.
Things To Do The Florida Sunshine State
Florida, The Sunshine State, has so much to offer travelers who love the warm, inviting climate down here.
Everything from incredible Florida beaches, wonderful nature experiences, and water activities, as well as cultural immersions, great dining, and nightlife.
Not far away are the coveted Florida Keys as well, where you can embark on lots of water activities, and nature experiences. Head out for a boat tour in Key West, or go Kayaking in Key Largo.
FAQs Mid Beach Miami
Is Mid Beach Miami A Good Area?
Yes, the Middle Beach in Miami Beach is a good area to stay in my opinion. Mid Beach is still close to the fun and life while not in the middle of it.
There is a short trolley ride or drive to South Beach, and a bit longer if you want to go all the way up to North Beach.
What Is Mid Beach Miami Known For?
Mid Beach is a quieter area than South Beach but is still known for stylish, elegant hotels, Miami Beach shopping options, great dining, and bars, and it has its own art district.
What Is The Nicest Part Of Miami
I really believe that there is no one answer to that question. If you love the urban vibe, Downtown probably is your area. If you like laid-back, artsy vibes, you might be happiest in Wynwood.
If you like being laid-back and also being minutes from the beach, somewhere along Miami Beach probably would be best for you!
