Vinales Valley has a lot more to offer than just the famous tobacco plantations, so staying a few days and making day trips from Vinales will show you a lot of this amazing part of Cuba!
Many travelers opt for a day trip from Havana to Vinales, and this tour is also very interesting with a lot of adventures gathered in one day. However!
I have visited Vinales many times over several years and explored caves, tobacco farms, rum, honey, mogotes, horseback riding, and, not least, the short-traveled organic food. There is a lot to see and do.
To help you decide on your best option, I have gathered the top 9 tours in Vinales to show you the variety of experiences you can have here. I am pretty sure you will find more than one that ignites a spark and maybe decide to stay for a while longer.
Why Day Tours In Vinales?
Vinales is one of the most fertile, green, and lush areas on the entire island. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site protection list and is just a bit more than a three hour drive from Havana.
Day trips from and in Vinales will take you through Cuba’s extremely fertile and unique scenery, the land of the mogotes, in a variety of ways.
1. Vinales Sunset Hike
Vinales Sunset Hike is a tour in Vinales rated 10 out of 10, and I can tell you firsthand that the sunset over Vinales Valley, west of Havana, is spectacular.
- Duration: 4 hours
- Languages: English and Spanish
In the late afternoon, you will trek through the unique, green landscape of the Vinales Valley into the Valle del Silencio, or “Valley of Silence.” This is part of Vinales National Park in Cuba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed area.
Marvle at the green fields, jungle, limestone karsts (green sugar top hills) known as “mogotes,” and natural caves on your way. You will also see coffee and tobacco plantations, as Vinales is the “heart” of Cuban cigar and tobacco production.
On this tour, you will be able to “support the Cuban people” by buying local products, such as tobacco, coffee, honey, rum, and fruit, directly from the farmers.
The trek is not difficult but be prepared that the summers in Cuba, including Vinales, can have high temperatures and humidity. When you make it to the hilltop, you will be rewarded with the best valley views just in time for the spectacular sunset!
2. Vinales Zip Line Tour
The Vinales Zip Line Tour will start off at the zip-line park in El Fortรญn, a park that has up to four zip lines in its circuit, so you can try them all!

First, you will go through safety rules and get into helmets and harnesses before you get to fly over the super green Viรฑales Valley. The park has 8 suspended platforms over a distance of 1 kilometer, and the longest zip line is over 400 meters (1312 feet).

When you are safely back on the ground, you will be returned to the pick-up point in Vinales after an airy day.
