There are some Miami Beach hostels that are truly amazing. What’s the secret?
I have to admit, I thought my time staying in hostels was long gone. But that was before I stayed at the hostels in Miami Beach. These are like a mix of hostels and hotels, and you will meet so many cool people and travelers there. In fact, the time when hostels in Miami South Beach were just for students and backpackers is long gone.
Three of the best hostels in Miami Beach are a mix of hotels and hostels with high-standard single rooms as well as dorms. These places are basically hotels that also have dorms and are well-maintained, clean, trendy, great service, and have lots of facilities.
Like amazing pools. And that is just a block or two from the infamous white sands of Miami Beach!
Favorite Hostels Miami Beach Florida
#Really Cool Miami Beach Hostels.
Obviously, nothing in this area is far from the beach, but these top three hostels are only a block or two away from the white sands.
Two of them are in South Beach, where you have the buzzing shopping and nightlife scene right outside the door. The last one is on Mid Beach, which is a quieter area, but still, it is only a free trolley ride away from the high vibes.
Let’s start with my three favorites: two Mid Beach hostels and one South Beach, right on the beach, close to everything.

Three Fabulous Glam Hostels In Miami Beach
Generator Miami On Mid Beach
Generator Miami on Mid Beach is AMAZING!
Mid Beach, being a less party area of Miami Beach, is still only a free trolley ride or an Uber ride away from the nightlife and shopping a couple of miles south.
I have stayed here for long periods of time because of these things:
- The incredible pool and vibe in the backyard,
- The super charming bar & restaurant Hoja Taqueria
- The smiling and service-minded staff, and
- Because it is one block (90 seconds!) from the beach!
The Generator Miami is a mix of a hotel and a hostel. You can get a really nice private room on the upper floors or share a dorm on the lower floors if you are on a budget or just super social.
Common areas in the reception, the pillow room, and the garden with the pool are trendy and elegant.
There is always chill music playing, hot and cold water, and a snack vending machine, computers, and desks in the foyer “living room” area.
The reception and room staff are super nice, and the average rating come out at 8.4, and the price starts at $30 (if you are able to book early).
The age range here is from 18-80, so if you worry about being surrounded by 18-year-old Europeans backpacking, don’t!
2. Freehand Miami Mid Beach
Freehand Miami Hotel and Hostel are two blocks from the beach in Mid Beach, an area of Miami Beach that is a bit calmer and quieter than South Beach but still super close to the shopping and nightlife!
Here, you find an outdoor pool in a super charming backyard, 2 on- as well as two on-site bars, a restaurant, and a tour desk.
The Broken Shaker is an on-site cocktail specialty bar with an amazing cocktail menu and a restaurant with a wide variety of dishes serving both staying guests and “outsiders.”
At Freehand, you can choose between 8, 6, and 4-person dorms, as well as private rooms and spacious suites with a sofa, bathtub, and view of the pool.
The dorms have private bathrooms, a desk slash working area, access to common areas, a pool, and the cocktail haven out back.

3. Viajero South Beach Miami
The second top-rated, really cool hostel/hotel on Miami Beach is the Viajero, situated in the heart of the glamorous South Beach just two blocks from the sandy shores.
I stayed here in the spring of 2023, and I loved it!
Just five minutes from the beach, the hostel also has a back garden with three consecutive pools, surrounded by sun loungers about ten meters from the on-site bar.
The foyer has a colorful, modern look, and there are a lot of activities to sign up for right from the 24-hour reception, and you have complimentary coffee and tea any time.
In addition to private rooms, you can stay in dormitories with between 10 and 4 beds, depending on how social you feel.
Three Cheap Hostels At Miami Beach
If location and a place to sleep are your main focus, you can get really cheap accommodation in Miami Beach as well, which is an area that is pretty pricey in general.
I have not visited the following hostels myself, so these descriptions are based on reviews, which, truth be told, are not all great.
But again, if you want a bed in the heart of Miami Beach, it still might be exactly what you need!
4. Beds & Drinks South Beach Miami
Beds n’ Drinks is a cheap South Beach hostel, that offers free wifi, a 24-hour front desk, a garden, and a terrace.
There is also a lounge for socializing, a games room, and a tour desk, and the hostel is two blocks from the beach.
The hostel has an average of 7.2 out of 10, in reviews, which comes out as “good”.
The Beds’n Drinks has private rooms and dorms for 6 – 10 persons, where dorm prices start at $19 a night.
According to themselves, the Beds Nโ Drinks bar is the best place in Miami Beach to meet travelers from all over the world.
Warm up before the party gets started, and go out to the best nightclubs!
5. South Beach Rooms & Hostel
The South Beach Rooms and Hostel are also in the middle of everything in South Beach, a couple of blocks from the beach.
You have free WiFi in public areas and a small included breakfast served in the morning.
The positive here is that a shared kitchen is available, and private bathrooms in each dormitory, which consists of 4- and 6-bed rooms.
Average ratings come out at 5.6, which is “fair”, and prices in a dorm with 6 beds start at $19.
In-house there are happy hours, a social area, and movie nights, and there is a game room that arranges tournaments.
And, of course, it is close to the Art Deco district, shopping, bars and restaurants, and everything Miami Beach has to offer.
6. Bikini Hostel Cafe & Beer Garden
The Bikini Hostel and Beer Garden is a South Beach hostel situated on the “other side” of South Beach, close to the shores of Biscayne Bay!
From here, there is around a ten-minute walk to the beach and shopping street, Lincoln Road, and the district mall.
The Bikini Hostel has free breakfast AND dinner, a 24-hour reception, and can organize tours for you if you like. You also have a shared kitchen on-site.
Dorms are 4, 6, 9, and 12 bedrooms, and there are private single and double rooms available. The lowest price starts at $19 per night.
Ratings average 5.5 and three stars, and the positives highlight friendly staff, location, harbor view, meals included, and a social vibe.
The negative highlights include noise (as at parties), questionable cleanliness, and not great meals.

Wrap-Up Hostels Miami Beach Florida
Although not a cheap area at all, you can stay at one of the Miami Beach hostels for a reasonable price and still be close to the fun, vibrant ambiance of Miami Beach and the powdery sands and soft waves if you don’t mind sharing your space.
You can also stay at one of these hostels in great comfort in a private room or even a suite while at the same time having the chill, laid-back social mix of the hostel and hotel vibe in the common areas, pools, and gardens.
The best of both worlds in the middle of Miami, Florida – if you like the laid-back vibe, that is. Check out this article for more hotel options on Mid Beach Miami, South Beach’s quieter little sister but still close to everything.
